Great weddings don’t just happen; they are made, and we got to chat with one of our event partners who goes above and beyond to make sure that wedding guests will remember the evening forever: Shantel Campbell of Arthur’s Creative Events & Catering.
How did you get your start in the event business?
Like all the greats: Amazon, Apple, Disney and The Ramones, Arthur’s Catering started in a garage. That’s right, a garage. Mark and Lisa partnered after being colleagues in the catering business for some years. They both worked part-time jobs as servers at first: Mark at Chi-Chi’s Restaurant and Lisa at the Park Plaza Garden and the Sweetwater Golf and Country Club.
“We were young enough and dumb enough, and there was a demand, so we just did it,” Lisa said.
Since then, their passion for weddings and special events has truly grown. Arthur’s Catering is in its third decade of bringing sensational catered events to life in Central Florida. “The life of the party” is not just our tag line – it’s who we are: our people, our expertise, energy and experience is what drives us every day. Whether planning a VIP gala, hosting an elegant wedding or volunteering in our community, Arthur’s has proven its ability to infuse deliciously innovative style and excitement into virtually every type of private, cultural, corporate and social celebration you can imagine.
What do you love most about being in the event/wedding business?
We love that every single day is an adventure. Our job allows us to be creative and use our talents to make parties come to life. We also get to partner with the absolute best in the business to create once in a life time events every single day. How often do you get to say that you were a part of one of the best days of someone’s life? Fortunately, we get to say that A LOT!
If a bride is considering a theme to their wedding, what is your best recommendation for incorporating a theme?
When planning a themed wedding, we recommend asking the experts! Everyone from your venue representative to your florist has the experience to make your themed wedding dream come to life! We understand how factors like guest count, rentals and venue layout all affect your theme and the flow of your event. Trust us and you should be in good hands.
What approach do you advise in order for it to be tasteful and yield an amazing looking event?
Keep it simple. It is amazing how some of the most elegant events have a very clean look!
When people inquire about your services, what can they expect?
We realize that weddings and events are as overwhelming as they are exciting. As your catering partner, you can expect us to handle every detail with loving care so that in the time leading up to your special event and on the day of, your sole focus can be on enjoying your special event. At Arthur’s, we believe that getting to know you is the single most important ingredient to crafting a truly special event. Once we’ve gotten to know you and we’ve determined your perfect menu, we will meet with you at your venue to walk through the space and note all the particulars for your spectacular day. Here, we will finalize the venue layout, linens, chairs as well as the agenda for the day of your wedding to ensure that absolutely no detail is left to chance!
What is your best advice to avoid planning stress for any special event?
Start planning early. Orlando has access to some of the best vendors in the industry. When you are looking to book the best of the best, you need to start thinking about it a year out. The more details you have worked out early in your planning process the less stress you will have closer to your event!
