Where did you meet your fiancée?
We met in 1986; I worked as a perfume counter representative. He visited often and spent lots of money so we could chat longer without my manager getting upset!
How did you know he was the one for you?
I was immediately in love with his smile- he had one of those smiles that you see in the 80s movies. He walked towards me and I knew I was in trouble!
What are the things you have in common?
We were born and raised in Puerto Rico. His parents settled there after a short Navy career- my parents moved to the States when I was a pre-teen. We both spoke both languages fluently and he loves being an Island son even though his parents are of Danish and German descent. We both love the music, the Island food and after 34 years- we continue to learn things together. Traveling, shore fishing and golf are definitely on our top favorite things to do!
How did he propose?
34, almost 35 years ago, Jason and I began our life together as Mommy and Daddy to two beautiful daughters. We married in 1988 and traveled the world as an Army family and weathered many storms together. We were introduced to War and sad goodbyes early on, but our Lord and Savior Jesus had other plans. We celebrate 35 years in January and will take our “official” first dance in front of our dearest friends and family, and that now includes two sons and a grandson! God is so good to us! Yes- there is A Happily Ever After!
What part of the wedding day are you looking forward to most?
I am looking forward to our official first dance. Yes- we have danced to many songs before, but never to our love song- I want somebody to Love by Depeche Mode. We both know there will be tears!
What inspired your wedding colors?
Army Blue and Army Shades of Green are the basic colors with a touch of gold!
