Congratulations to our May 2013 Chiavari Chair Winners Jenna and Andy!
Jenna and Andy met at law school when she was a freshman and he was a sophomore. They definitely found more then they anticipated at college! Read more to find out how he proposed and details about their upcoming wedding!
Where did you meet Andy?
Andy and I met in law school. He was a year ahead of me, so when we started dating I was a first year student and he was a second year.
How did you know he was the one for you?
I knew Andy was the one for me because he’s different from anyone I’ve ever known. He sincerely cares about others, his faith is important to him, he’s there when I’m having a terrible day, and, most importantly, he loves my cat. 🙂
What are the things you have in common?
We are both big fans of visiting new places. After the wedding we are planning on going to Savannah for a few days and finding some really great local joints to eat at. We both enjoy outdoor activities such as riding bikes around the neighborhood or laying around on the beach with a cocktail (but who doesn’t love that?). Most of all, we are happiest snuggled up on the couch watching tv.
How did Andy propose?
The proposal…Andy and I were still in Virginia and I had just finished up final exams. He and I planned to go to Roanoke and have dinner at a cool restaurant/bar. On the way there Andy was determined to go up the Blue Ridge Mountains to enjoy the view from an overlook. The first one we stopped at didn’t have a great view, so he drove us up to the next one. I was really cold, but thought it was cute he was being all nice and romantic after finishing my law school exams. This overlook had a magnificent view, and I started reading a sign that talked about how the valley we overlooked extended all the way to Georgia. I was so interested in the sign I didn’t realize Andy had rolled down the car windows and started playing “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. Just as I realized the song was on and turned around, he was in front of me, and dropped to one knee. In a very unladylike fashion, I began to cry. Not a sweet pretty cry, but an uncontrollable sob. Thank goodness no one was taking pictures! Anyway, I at least had the forethought while sobbing to hold out my hand to him. I know he said something, but I was hysterical and don’t quite remember what it was he said. I’m not even sure I said yes! But I was nodding, nodding and crying. He put the ring on my finger and then kissed me, so I’m pretty sure he knew the answer.
What part of the wedding day are you looking forward to most?
The number one thing I can’t wait for is our first look. It’s going to be amazing, I know it. And I’m also looking forward to cake!
What inspired your wedding colors?
My colors are lavender and gray. I’ve always loved purple, and I wanted a neutral color like gray in order to make that purple really pop!
