Where did you meet your fiancée?
My fiance and I met in college (Go Gators!) when I went on his fraternity’s road trip to New Orleans, Louisiana. We were at a bar on Bourbon Street when we met, then spent the rest of the night with friends exploring Bourbon Street together!
How did you know he was the one for you?
While some couples have that “they’re the one” feeling right away, my “he’s the one” feeling for Stephen was more of steady growth. Once we started dating, we spent as much time as possible together. I knew I wanted to marry Stephen when I realized the honeymoon feeling of wanting to spend every extra moment together didn’t go away: that feeling stayed. He was my best friend and my partner rolled into one. By the time we introduced our families to each other after 2 years of dating, we were confident in our future!
What are the things you have in common?
Stephen and I are more of an “opposites attract” partnership—he’s an only child, and I’m one of 7. He is very type A (neat and organized) while I go with the flow with my scatterbrain. I could and would talk to a rock while Stephen doesn’t waste words. We enjoy a lot of the same activities, such as movies/shows, spending time with our friends, and cheering on our Gators.
How did he propose?
It was a very laidback, very “us” proposal. We designed and ordered the ring together, then I had to wait for him to propose and give it to me. It was the night before my summer break ended (I’m a teacher) and I assumed that since it was bedtime, the proposal wasn’t happening that day. With Stephen already in bed, I turned out the lights and went to my side. I sat on something hard and reached under me. There was the ring box! It was pitch-black in the room, so I said, “Are you serious?” and he said, “So….?” I didn’t let him off that easy so after saying some sweet stuff, I “officially” said yes!
What part of the wedding day are you looking forward to most?
The part of the wedding I’m most looking forward to is having our extended families finally meet! Stephen’s family is from the Philadelphia/South New Jersey area, and most of my family lives in Florida. We both have quite large extended families, so I am so excited to see everyone meet and celebrate together.
What inspired your wedding colors?
My wedding colors are rust orange, mustard yellow, and brown neutral tones. The colors we chose were inspired by our love of leaves in the fall and how beautifully they pop against the neutrals and browns. Yellow and orange have always been colors that make me feel happy and bright, so what better to choose for this magical day?
