December 2012 Chiavari Chair Winners

As we close the books on 2012, our winners for the final month of the year was Patrice and Andrew. They will be getting married at the end of the January at the Winter Park Civic Center. Congratulations to the couple!

Their love story is a “reel” interesting one. Read on to learn more about how Andrew caught the attention of the lovely Patrice and reeled in one memorable marriage proposal via our one on one interview with Patrice:

Where did you meet Andrew?

“During college Andrew worked at Walmart, one day while shopping at the store he happened to be my Cashier. Fast-forward a year after our first encounter, in December 2004. I made my way over to the meat section and I ran into Andrew, I did not remember him at the time, he pointed to my grocery cart and asked “What I was making him for dinner?” I smiled and decided to entertain his idea of flirting. After a few exchanges of words he asked me for my number, but I disregarded him and advised him to “get back to work”. While shopping I ran into one of my girlfriends and told her the story and she encouraged me to give him a chance. I went back over to him and he told me he would give me his number, if I was interested to call him, no pressure.”

How did you know he was the one for you?

“Strange enough one day we were both hungry and Andrew had some food but it was only enough for one, and he told me I could have it. He is very giving and caring, I feel he always ends up doing the “right” thing, this is a trait I admire about him and I would like to have more of.”

What are the things you have in common?

“We love food, we both cook. We love watching movies, we are both goofy and he is the funniest person I know.”

How did Andrew propose?

“On July 4th, 2012 we would celebrate our 7 year relationship, we opted not to do anything big since we made plans to go to New York the day after. Drew asked me the previous night if I wanted to go fishing, and I was very excited. He taught me how to fish years ago & I would always ask him to go but we never did. So the morning of, I got dressed and we drove over to Jay Blanchard Park. I started fishing, but my line was repeatedly getting caught in garbage at the bottom of the lake and I would ask him to remove it.”

“After the third time my line got tangled and I had to bring it to him so he could fix it. While he was fixing the tangled line he asked me to go to the car because he “forgot” his phone, (during this time he was setting the bait), and without hesitation I went for it and then returned. My fishing rod was placed on the ground and he told me it was fixed. So I started to reel in the line, and became frustrated  to find yet another piece of garbage on the hook. I brought it over to him and asked him to remove it, and he asked me what it was and I replied that I didn’t know. However, upon further observation saw that it looked like a jewelry box. He then made a few jokes that maybe whatever was inside could pay for our trip to New York. Meanwhile, I was thinking nothing of this, because there is no way a sane person would throw an engagement ring into the lake.”

“Once he got it untangled we opened it and the box was empty, so I picked up my fishing rod and proceeded to fishing. Only to hear him say, “well there was nothing in that box, but maybe there is something in this one.” I turned around only to see him getting down on one knee, and he asked if I would marry him. I said yes, and cried as he consoled me. Two less fish in the sea.”

What part of the wedding day are you looking forward to most?

“Saying “I do” signing the marriage certificate and being pronounced husband and wife.”

What inspired your wedding colors?

“I wanted classic colors, nothing bright. My favorite color is black and I love the way grey looks with pink, so we ended up with black, gray and accent color of magenta.”

We look forward to Patrice & Andrew’s special day and wish them a lifetime of happiness. Congratulations on your win!
