Meet the New Player in Town – Central Florida Wine Consultant Kelly King!
When you’re getting married, you already have a lot on your mind. So when it comes to choosing the perfect drink for your wedding or special event, turn to someone you can trust – Kelly King, a Central Florida wine consultant at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits! We had a quick chat with Kelly to discuss how she got her start in the biz, her recommendations for brides-to-be, and more!
How did you get your start in the event business?
In 2010, I had already been planning events on a volunteer basis for several years. After I realized how much I really loved it, I decided to make the career move and go back to school to earn my Event Management degree from UCF! Prior to graduating, I was working at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits as a Wine Consultant, because I also have a huge passion for wine and ultimately I was hoping to combine my two passions into one amazing career. Our new Concierge Program is that perfect role for me! I am still in the world of wine and get to help others plan special moments with a little spirits……ok, sometimes, A LOT of spirits!!
What do you love most about being in the event/wedding business?
I love seeing how things develop from start to finish. Every event starts with an idea or a vision! It’s amazing to witness the layers of ideas, moments and work turn into a client’s dream! In my case, I get to see the work of MANY other talented people in the industry flourish, while I assist in providing bubbles to toast the most special moments and memories!
If a bride is considering a theme to her wedding, what is your best recommendation for incorporating a theme?
While the bride’s wedding planner will tackle incorporating the theme for the most part, I can add elements to the bar to assist in the vision. It could be a color that we bring to a specialty drink. It could be a specialty drink in general that pertains to the theme. Or, it could be the theme of the bar that brings it all together! There are so many possibilities!
What approach do you advise in order for it to be tasteful and yield an amazing looking event?
Again, the wedding planner will get all the credit for the looks of the event! But I like to always offer something unique to them! A unique idea for a specialty drink, or a special wine or signature cocktail. There are many ways to add a signature touch!
When people inquire about your services, what can they expect?
They can expect someone who understands the importance of their event! They can expect personal service and someone who cares about their special event and seeing it through. Our concierge service allows our guests and clients to experience a fully customized service regardless if they have no idea what to purchase, or how much, or they know exactly what they want! We will make it happen, and we will deliver their selections to the venue FREE of charge!
What is your best advice to avoid planning stress for any special event?
Take a deep breath, and lean on the experts assisting in planning your event. It can be challenging planning an event all by yourself! Let friends and family help you! I will be there waiting at the finish line, with a glass of champagne for you! Cheers.
