April Winners: Shayla and Bruce

Congratulations to our April winners, Shayla and Bruce! This beautiful couple will receive $500 off their wedding rentals. Read on to find out more about this amazing couple and what they have planned for their wedding day!

Where did you meet your fiancée?

Bruce and I met at a mutual friend’s house at a fight watch party (Manny Pacquiao v. Timothy Bradley). It was a Love TKO that same night. 🙂

How did you know he was the one for you?

Before I met Bruce, I had been praying for certain characteristics in a man.  Among other things, I prayed most that he was like my father – God fearing, responsible, sensitive, loving, driven.  As I got to know Bruce, not only did he display these intangible qualities, but he also was like my dad in a number of other ways.  Both are from Central Florida, both went to college in North Carolina, both pledged the same fraternity (Omega Psi Phi) and both are left handed.  It became obvious very quickly that he was everything I had been praying for and then some.

What are the things you have in common?

Bruce and I were attracted to each other based on our mutually shared values and ambitions.  We are both attorneys who are driven by the goals of helping others and uplifting our communities in everything we do. We both adore our families and love to laugh and learn. We love to travel and love new experiences and meeting new people.

How did he propose?

Bruce’s proposal was simply magical.  I had been fasting for three months prior to that date and I thought we were going to Joe’s Crab Shack to have a nice, simple dinner. Instead he had chartered a car to take us to Disney’s California Grille at the Contemporary Resort where we shared dinner overlooking the resort.  He had hired a videographer who pretended that he worked for the restaurant and was taking pictures of all the couples there so I had no clue he was actually filming me. Right before the fireworks went off at 10 pm, the manager brought out a silver platter which had a glass slipper with the ring on it with the words, “Will you marry me” surrounding the slipper. After choking out an ecstatic yes in the midst of my tears of joy, we enjoyed the fireworks overlooking the park.

What part of the wedding day are you looking forward to most?

I am most looking forward to walking down the aisle toward my soon-to-be husband and afterwards, leaving as one.

What inspired your wedding colors?

Purple and gold are regal colors and symbolize royalty; Sage (green), to me, represents life and prosperity. These also happen to be Bruce’s fraternity colors and one of my sorority colors.
