Meet one of Central Florida’s Top Wedding and Event Entertainers: The Elite Show Band
When you are hosting a corporate event, planning a wedding reception or celebrating a milestone with family and friends, you want to be sure that your guests are entertained and having a blast! We can promise you that having The Elite Show Band at your event will elevate your party to the next level and will keep your guests dancing all night.
Recently, we were able to sit down with Peter and Nina Khan and talk to them about how they got started in the entertaining business, what is their advice for planning a stress-free event and what they love most about being in the wedding/event industry. Sit back and enjoy!
How did you get your start in the event business?
Nina and I met while working for Disney back in 2003. Nina was in the theater department and was cast dance captain and I was head of the musicians. We fell in love and got engaged after 2 months of dating and got married a year later. We wanted to work together and travel the world, so we joined forces to create a wedding and event band that we would want to see. This showcased Nina’s extensive theater background and my performing, recording, and business background all in one service. All the while, giving our customers the amazing customer service experience that we learned while working for Disney. Next thing we knew, we were performing across four continents and for over a half a dozen celebrities- to create a musical group worthy of performing for brides and grooms for the most memorable day of their life.
We love the fact that we get to be surrounded by the energy of love and happiness every weekend (yes that may sound corny, but it’s true). We get to dress up in our fanciest clothes, be in a beautiful setting, play music that joins people of all backgrounds and ages on the dance floor for one goal in mind- to enjoy life for a moment in time! Everything we do is about connecting the energy of people, and there is no better environment for this than at a wedding or special event.
From a musical aspect, themes can be super fun! Obviously, the visual for the guests will put them in the right head space to feel as though they have been transformed to whatever theme you have chosen. For instance, we had a bride that wanted our group to do an 80s rock concert for the last hour of her wedding reception. (I know…so much fun right!?!) So everything else was picture perfect, from her dress to the dinner and all of the traditional “wedding things” in between. Then the band made a quick change into full 80s costumes (wigs and all) while the bride changed into a shorter dress- then we rocked out everything from Pat Benatar to Bon Jovi for the rest of the night. Some of the guests thought it was a completely different band- that’s how powerful the visual aspect of an event can be.
Enlist the help of a professional planner or expert wedding vendors to help you make sure you get the result you have imagined. The pros will guide you in the right direction.
When people inquire about your services, what can they expect?
They can expect quality across all platforms from our wardrobe to our level of musicianship and sound quality (this is actually why we picked the name the Elite Show Band over a decade ago). An energetic performance designed to move your guests onto the dance floor. Organization and communication- we are accessible and in today’s world your wedding vendors should be. Connection with the guests- this is so important!!! Playing music is the easy part because we have been doing this our entire lives, but bringing people together to enjoy, laugh, dance, and be a part of the celebration that they will remember forever is an art which we have mastered- the art of live entertainment.
Remember why the event is happening in the first place! When stress really starts to hit, this is usually the first thing people forget. Guess what- a wedding is about love- joining 2 people and 2 families into one. And corporate events can mean appreciation for your employees, raising funds for a worthy cause, or just meeting up with others who you don’t get to see as often. So don’t let the stress bring you down- come back to the truth and ask yourself- why are we throwing this event – what is the purpose?
