Where did you meet your fiancée?
We first met in a running group in Chicago, with the aim of increasing diversity in the running world. I was new to the city and Kouri has always been into fitness. A few months later during the pandemic, we communicated more through a dating app and quickly realized we had the running group in common.
How did you know he was the one for you?
I first knew he was the one when we trained for a half marathon together and had so much fun during our long runs! He made a daunting task seem surprisingly easy. Then confirmation after confirmation continued to follow.
What are the things you have in common?
Most importantly to us, we share the same faith as Christians and are committed to serving God and our communities. But we also enjoy similar hobbies, like running, traveling, and spending time with friends/family. We have a similar outlook and vision for our lives.
How did he propose?
He turned what I thought was his birthday party, into a surprise engagement party! All of our family and friends flew to Chicago from Florida, Illinois, New York, Washington D.C., Iowa, Louisiana, etc. He popped the question while we were surrounded by our loved ones.
What part of the wedding day are you looking forward to most?
The ceremony, which for us is a meaningful way to share our faith with our closest friends and family. God is the most central part of our relationship. It’s all about Him!
What inspired your wedding colors?
My vision was always for subtle mixed metals and reflective materials. Then when I saw our reception venue was mostly green and white with big windows, I realized blush, champagne, and ivory with gold and mirrored accents would work perfectly!
