Our May monthly wedding winners are Sara and Kyle! This couple met in 2020 to celebrate the New Year, and they have been inseparable ever since. We asked them questions to gain insight into their relationship, how Kyle proposed, and what they are most looking forward to on their wedding day. Let’s take a look at their responses and get a closer look at their relationship.
Where did you meet your fiancée?
We met on New Year’s Eve 2020 in Miami, during a celebration that welcomed 2021. Sara was there celebrating her friend Alyssa’s birthday, and Kyle was enjoying the night with his friend Tim. We met just before midnight on the dance floor, and the connection was instant.
How did you know they were the one for you?
We knew we had found the right person in each other when, despite the challenges of long-distance and busy schedules, our connection never wavered. Facing life’s ups and downs together showed us that we work as a team, communicate with trust, and support each other through it all. We share the same core values, family, faith, and generosity, and those values have been the foundation of our relationship. Most of all, we realized we simply never wanted to be apart for long. Being together always feels like home.
What are the things you have in common?
We share a deep love for adventure, travel, and the outdoors, from beach days and tennis matches to hiking mountains and exploring new cities. We also love spending time with our families, trying new wines, and staying active with workouts. On quieter days, you’ll find us playing board games like Catan or Rummikub, laughing and competing, or walking along the shore collecting seashells.
How did they propose?
Kyle proposed in the breathtaking Douro Valley in Portugal. Surrounded by vineyards and overlooking the rolling hills and winding river, he got down on one knee and asked Sara to spend forever with him. It was the perfect culmination of our many shared adventures.
What part of the wedding day are you looking forward to most?
We’re most looking forward to that unforgettable moment when we see each other for the first time at the church, Kyle waiting at the altar, and Sara walking down the aisle. It’s a moment we’ve dreamed about and one that will mark the beginning of the rest of our lives. We’re also so excited to be surrounded by all of our family and friends in one place, celebrating together.
What inspired your wedding colors?
We chose a timeless and elegant black-and-white palette to keep things classic and chic. But we also wanted to add a personal touch, one of Sara’s favorite movies is My Best Friend’s Wedding, so she chose lilac bridesmaid dresses as a sweet nod to Julia Roberts’ iconic look in the film. It’s the perfect blend of classic style and a little bit of nostalgic romance.
